Suns select Ayton number one overall in NBA Draft
Deandre Ayton told everyone he was going to be the first pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, and he was right, selected by the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.
Phoenix stayed in state, taking the Arizona center number one overall to team with Devin Booker, Elfrid Payton, Dragan Bender and Josh Jackson.
Ayton told reporters earlier this month after working out with the Suns that he would not do so for any other teams because he knew he was going to be selected by Phoenix.
Many thought Real Madrid guard Luka Doncic would be selected first when the Suns hired his former coach Igor Kokoskov to fill their head coaching vacancy, but Ayton's size and ability won out.
