College career
Hartman joined Wake Forest in 2018, where he started playing as a starting quarterback. He saw action in the first match against Tulane, where they won in overtime. In this game, he displayed his prowess by throwing for 378 yards.
He was the first Wake Forest freshman to play as a QB in a season-opener. In a match against Rice, he won the ACC Conference award. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending injury that kept him on the bench.
