Brian Ortega, also known as "T-City," is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the UFC Featherweight division. Born on February 21, 1991, in Los Angeles, California, Ortega is highly proficient in grappling, especially Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Ortega kicked off his professional career back in 2010, building a reputation with a series of submission victories, the majority via his favorite triangle choke, which quickly earned him the "T-City" nickname. Turning to the UFC in 2014, he slowly began his ascension up the rankings by racking up notable wins against fighters like Cub Swanson, Renato Moicano, and Clay Guida among others, with many of them coming with Performance of the Night bonuses.
In 2018, one of Ortega's greatest challenges was for the UFC Featherweight Championship, which he lost to Max Holloway via TKO after an exhausting fight. Ortega would return even stronger against Chan Sung Jung, by winning by unanimous decision and earning another shot at the title.
