Elina Svitolina is a Ukrainian tennis player with a career-high ranking of No. 3, which she achieved on September 11, 2017. As per the latest ranking released by WTA in March 2025, she is ranked World No. 22. Her best Grand Slam record includes reaching the semifinals of the 2019 and 2023 Wimbledon Open, losing to Simona Halep and Marketa Vondrousova, respectively. She also advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 US Open, losing to former champion Serena Williams. Svitolina won the 2018 WTA Tour Finals, defeating Sloane Stephens by 3-6. 6-2, 6-2.

She has won 17 WTA titles as of 2025, including the three Premier5 tournaments. Svitolina competed at the 2016 Hopman Cup, helping Ukraine reach the final, losing to Australia. She had to end her season early, at the end of September, to undergo foot surgery. Due to the premature end of the season, she has to withdraw from the 2024 China Open. Svitolina follows a defensive baseline playing style by moving the ball around the back with a solid forehand. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open and 2025 Indian Well Masters, but she lost to Madison Keys and Mirra Andreeva.

Elina Svitolina Olympic Medals

Elina Svitolina won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, thus winning Ukraine's first Olympic medal. In the bronze medal match, she beat Elena Rybakina, taking revenge for the 2021 Eastbourne Open encounter. She showcased outstanding performance during the match by making a comeback from a set down and winning the second set tiebreak.

Svitolina registered a win against Camila Giorgi in the quarterfinals but lost to Marketa Vondrousova in the semifinals. She also appeared in the 2016 Olympic Games but was eliminated in the quarterfinals losing to Petra Kvitova.

Elina Svitolina WTA Titles

Svitolina has won 17 singles titles as of March 2025, including four WTA 1000 titles and 12 WTA tour titles. Her last WTA 1000 title came at the 2018 Italian Open, where she registered a win against Simona Halep by 6-0, 6-4. The other WTA 1000 titles won by Svitolina include the Canadian Open, Italian Open, and Dubai Championships in 2017. She won her 17th WTA title at the 2023 Strasbourg Open, defeating Anna Blinkova in the final. With the win, she maintained her record of winning six claycourt finals and 10 WTA 250 finals.
