He created an upset by eliminating No. 9 Andrey Rublev in the first round by 7-6, 6-3, 7-6. His success continued as he lifted the trophy of his second Challenger title at the 2025 Canberra Tennis International against Ethan Quinn. He achieved his career-high ranking of No. 60 (current ranking) on March 17, 2025. Fonseca has won two Challenger titles, including the 2024 Lexington Challenger, as of March 2025. He advanced to the quarterfinal of the 2024 Rio Open, defeating Cristian Garin in the fourth round by 6-4, 6-4. With the win, he became the first after Alexander Zverev to reach the last eight in Hamburg. He is a right-handed player who hits powerful forehand shots and strong serves.
