Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard is one of the most dominant centers to ever play in the NBA. Howard was a superstar center while he played for the Orlando Magic and he also led the team to a Finals appearance in 2009.

Howard won three straight Defensive Player of the Year awards with the Magic and is the only player ever to have won it three years in a row. After leaving the Magic to form a big three with the Lakers, Howard has never been the same. He suffered from injuries and age started to catch up with him. His explosiveness started declining and his production dropped every season until he was out of the NBA.

Howard last played professional basketball in China, with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 league in Taiwan.

Dwight Howard Rings

Howard has one championship ring. He won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. The NBA season was cut short due to the pandemic and the season resumed in the biosecure bubble in Walt Disney World, in Bay Lake, Florida. Howard’s only ring came in the NBA bubble where he played alongside Lebron James and Anthony Davis.

Howard was a huge part of the Lakers’ championship run. The Lakers were one of the biggest teams in the NBA in terms of size. Howard helped slow down superstars Nikola Jokic, Bam Adebayo, and gave solid rim protection. He was the defensive anchor when he was on the floor and provided veteran leadership to the younger players on the 2020 Lakers’ roster.

Howard previously had been to the NBA Finals in 2009 where he faced the Los Angeles Lakers. The Orlando Magic were simply beaten by a better team who had a lot more talent. Kobe Bryant outplayed Howard and went on to defeat the Magic. The series ended 4-1 in favor of the Lakers and Howard had to wait 16 seasons to get his first and only ring.
