Demetrius Andrade is a 35-year-old professional boxer from America who is a former WBO middleweight, light middleweight, and WBA(regular) light middleweight champion. Starting his boxing career in 2008, Andrade has a record of 32 wins and 1 loss. The majority of his wins are via knockout(19) and decision(13). However, Andrade had to keep himself away from boxing from 2021 to early 2023 as he could not come to terms with the WBO on several fight purses and hence vacated his WBO middleweight title.

During his amateur career, Demetrius Andrade has had numerous international and national championships in the welterweight division. He also represented the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics, which was held in Beijing, China.

On November 9, 2013, Demetrius Andrade defeated Vanes Martirosyan via a split decision in a twelve-rounder and won the vacant WBO light middleweight title. He even defended the title against Brian Rose on June 14, 2014. Andrade TKO’d Rose at 1:19 in the seventh round at Barclays Center in New York, United States.

Demetrius Andrade faced Jack Culcay on March 11, 2017, for the WBA(Regular) light middleweight championship and won the bout via a split decision. The fight took place at Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, Ludwigshafen, in Germany.

On October 20, 2018, Demetrius Andrade won the vacant WBO middleweight title by defeating Walter Kautonokwa via a unanimous decision. The fight took at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Moreover, Andrade did an impeccable job in defending the title five times consecutively till 2021. He first faced Artur Akavov on January 28, 2019, and won the bout via TKO in the twelfth round. He then faced Maciej Sulecki and won the bout via a unanimous decision in 2019. Andrade had three more successful title defenses against Luke Keeler, Liam Williams, and Jason Quigley, respectively.

Demetrius Andrade’s father is Paul Andrade, and his mother’s name has been kept private. His father has helped him carve out a successful career and has been a constant support system for the American boxer.

During an interview with PUNSH DRUNK BOXING, Andrade spoke about how important his father is for him to move forward in life, irrespective of the results. He also claims that even though the duo has had quarrels in the past over family stuff, the father-son relationship is still strong and ongoing.

However, as per reports, Demetrius Andrade lost his mother in 2023. The cause of death and other things are still unknown to the public.
