British professional boxer Sunny Edwards was born on January 1, 1996, and has been the flyweight champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) since 2021. He is Charlie Edwards' younger brother, the former flyweight world boxing champion. According to BoxRec, TBRB, The Ring, and ESPN, he is currently the second-best active flyweight in the world.

In September 2016, Edwards won his first professional bout via a four-round points decision (PTS) over Sergey Tasimov at the Recinto Ferial in Estepona, Spain. The vacant WBO European super-flyweight title was at stake when he took on undefeated prospect Ross Murray (6-0, 1 KO) in November 2017 at London's Grange St. Paul's Hotel, and a technical knockout (TKO) in the fourth round gave Edwards the victory.

On October 26, 2018, he defeated Ryan Farrag via ten-round unanimous decision (UD) at York Hall in London, effectively defending his WBO European title after two more victories. The bout was scored 100-90 by two judges and 99-91 by the third.

It was revealed on March 31, 2023, that Edwards had inked a promotional contract with Matchroom Boxing, which is supported by DAZN. A few weeks later, it was announced that Edwards would defend his fourth title at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England, on June 10, 2023, against Andres Campos.

All three judges gave him a scorecard of 117–111, meaning he was unanimously declared the winner. He was then scheduled to face Julio Cesar Martinez or Jesse Rodriguez for the title unification match. On December 16, 2023, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, Edwards is slated to defend his title against WBO flyweight champion Jesse Rodriguez.
