Born on April 18,1993, Mika Zibanejad is a Swedish professional ice hockey center and alternate captain for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League(NHL). He was drafted sixth overall in the 2011 NHL entry draft by the Ottawa Senators.

After an impressive showing in the Senators’ training camp, Zibanejad was added to the opening night roster of the 2011-12 season. However, after recording a single point after nine games, he was reassigned to the Djurgårdens IF. Zibanejad was called back to the Senators' lineup on January 28, 2013 and was selected as the first star in his first game back. Notably, the Senators traded Zibanejad to the New York Rangers, along with a second-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, in exchange for Derick Brassard and a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

He has stayed with the Rangers ever since and was honored with an All-Star selection in 2022. Moreover, Zibanejad is currently under an eight-year contract worth $68 million with the Rangers which runs until the 2029-30 season. Zibanejad has also represented Sweden internationally, contributing to the junior team’s victory in the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and the Senior team’s success in winning the 2018 IIHF World Championship.
