Troy Brown Jr. is an American professional basketball player who is playing for the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Born on July 28, 1999, Brown Jr. played for the Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he emerged as a standout five-star athlete. He hails from a family deeply rooted in athletics. Both his mother, who competed in track, and his father, a former collegiate basketball player, proudly represented Texas A&M University-Kingsville during their college years. Adding to this, Troy's sister, Jada, plays basketball at the University of Kansas.

Brown's journey to the NBA was highlighted by his success with USA Basketball, winning a gold medal at the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. His stellar performances and raw potential earned him the 15th overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2018 NBA draft.

While Brown faced early struggles in his rookie year with the Wizards, he persevered and developed into a formidable two-way wing in his sophomore season. Despite starting only 10 games in his rookie campaign, Brown saw significant improvement in his sophomore year, starting 22 games out of 69 played and averaging 10.4 points in 25.2 minutes per game.

In March 2021, Brown was traded to the Chicago Bulls and during his tenure with the Bulls, he continued to showcase his two-way versatility and athleticism on the court. In 2022, Brown signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he carved out a niche as an elite 3-and-D wing player. His ability to knock down three-pointers and play lockdown defense made him a valuable asset to the Lakers as he started a career-high 45 games out of 76 played during the 2022-23 NBA season.

Troy Brown Jr.'s one-year stint at University of Oregon showcased his exceptional talent and two-way versatility on the basketball court. As a freshman, Brown made an immediate impact for the Ducks, earning recognition on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention.

Throughout the season, Brown averaged team-high 6.2 rebounds per game which ranked him tied for 16th in the Pac-12 conference. Additionally, his defensive abilities were evident, as he tallied 55 steals, placing him tied for ninth on the UO single-season steals list.

In various games throughout the season, Brown displayed his all-around skill set. In the NIT opener against Rider, he recorded seven points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals, showcasing his ability to contribute across multiple categories. Other notable performances included an 11-point, five-rebound effort in the Pac-12 semifinal game against USC and a 17-point, six-rebound outing at Washington State.

Brown's ability to impact the game extended beyond scoring and rebounding. Against UCLA, he hustled his way to statline of seven assists, and four steals, highlighting his defensive prowess and playmaking ability. Moreover, he showcased his scoring ability with a career-high 21 points against Colorado, accompanied by four steals and seven rebounds.

One of the standout moments of Brown's freshman year was his impressive three-straight double-doubles, becoming the first Duck to achieve this feat since Jordan Bell in the 2016-17 season. Brown Jr also came close to a triple-double against Portland State, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high nine assists. Brown Jr's impact extended to the clutch moments in games, as evidenced by his performance in the PK80 tournament, where he closed out the event with 13 points and eight rebounds against Oklahoma.

Overall, Brown appeared in 35 games for the Ducks, averaging 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 31.2 minutes per game. He was Oregon’s leading rebounder, and was also second on the team in assists. Brown Jr shot 44.4 percent from the field, 29.1 percent from three and 74.3 percent from the foul line.
