Jordan Hawkins became a household name after UConn won its 1st NCAA Championship in 2014. But Hawkins already had shown flashes of his game in High School year. Efficient shooter from the field recorded 63.4% accuracy from the field while shooting 46.4% from the range.
He averaged 19.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game in his senior year. He also won the Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year award for his great show for the team. Consensus top 50 recruit led DeMatha to an 11-0 record.
Hawkins was rewarded as a two-time Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention pick. Playing his first two high school years at Gaithersburg High, Hawkins averaged 20.2 points per game as a sophomore.
Hawkins even played AAU for Team Durant under Coach Angel Hernandez. Hawkins received a total of 5 offers from the college, where he selected then 4-time NCAA champions UConn over Marquette, Louisville, Xavier, and Seton Hall. Despite struggling with injuries in the early days, he delivered their 5th title in 2023.
Hawkins is certainly a bright prospect, just like Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Caron Butler, Ben Gordon, and Rudy Gay coming out of UConn.
