Daijun Edwards played his college football for the Georgia Bulldogs and was the running back for the team. He started his college football career in 2020 and played for four seasons before declaring for the NFL draft. Edwards is coming from a top-heavy running back team, but he is one of the best running backs coming into the 2024 NFL draft.

During his time in Georgia, Edwards showed significant improvement each season. In his true freshman season, Edwards posted 218 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, and a single reception in 9 games that he played. In Edwards’ sophomore season, he had 215 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 2 receptions, and 42 receiving yards. In the 2022 football season, in his junior year, Edwards had a breakout season where he had 769 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 14 receptions and 101 receiving yards. He also helped the Bulldogs win the CFP national championship in the same season. Despite his brilliance in 2022, Edwards took it a notch higher in the 2023 season where he racked up 880 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 20 receptions, and 197 receiving yards.

In terms of Edwards’ talent, while he played for the Bulldogs, he had an exceptional understanding of positioning, vision, and keeping balance on his feet even while facing heavy contact. He can make quick cuts while running the route which makes him a hard matchup for the opposing defense. The only concern going forward is Edwards’ speed. His limitations in terms of speed can sometimes turn high-yardage play into a chunk play instead.

Prior to college, Edwards attended Colquitt County High School located in Norman Park, Georgia. In his high school football career, Edwards posted 4,327 yards, 62 touchdowns, 748 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. He is a former four-star recruit who picked Georgia over Florida State to play his college football.
