Ons Jabeur started playing tennis at the age of three after seeing her mother play recreationally. She was trained by Nabil Mlika in her childhood days. She started working with Mlika at a tennis promotion center organized in her school. Jabeur began to participate in junior tournaments at the age of 13. She won the Junior French Open title in 2011, becoming the first African or Arab to win a junior major since 1964. She turned professional in 2010, and made her WTA tour debut at the Qatar Open in 2012.
