Bam Adebayo is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat in the NBA as of November 2024. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) and weighing 255 pounds (116 kg), he plays as a center. Bam Adebayo played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected by the Miami Heat with the 14th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

He has been chosen as an NBA All-Star three times, in 2020, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, he has been recognized as a four-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team honoree and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2024. During his college career, Adebayo received honors such as being named a McDonald's All-American in 2016 and winning the title of North Carolina Mr. Basketball in the same year. Adebayo has also represented the United States in international competitions. He was selected for the 2020 Olympic team and won a gold medal.

Thumb (December 2021 - January 2022)

In December 2021, Bam Adebayo suffered his first major injury since his NBA debut, a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb. The injury occurred on November 29, 2021, during a game against the Denver Nuggets according to NBA's website. Despite playing 35 minutes and recording a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds, Adebayo initially downplayed the injury.

However, further evaluation revealed the severity, and he underwent surgery at the Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles. This injury sidelined him for 22 games from December 1, 2021, to January 16, 2022. He returned on January 17, 2022, in a game against the Toronto Raptors as per Basketball Reference.

Hip (December 2023)

On October 28, 2023, Adebayo sustained a left hip contusion during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which ultimately led to missed time in December. According to Bleacher Report, he re-aggravated the injury in a game against the Indiana Pacers on November 30, resulting in him sitting out seven games between December 2, 2023, and December 17, 2023. After a rehabilitation process, Adebayo made his return on December 18, 2023, against the Timberwolves as per Basketball Reference.
