Alexsandro “Poatan” Pereira is a Brazilian MMA fighter competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He competes in the UFC light heavyweight division and is the current champion of the division. He is also ranked No. 4 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings. Besides being a successful mixed martial artist, Pereira has also been a former kickboxer who won two glory belts at the same time in middleweight (2017) with five successful defenses and light heavyweight (2021).


Born on July 7, 1987, in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Alex Pereira made his UFC debut at UFC 268 against Andreas Michailidis on November 6, 2021. He won the fight through a TKO in Round 2. Since then, he has been a former UFC middleweight champion and 3-time winner of the Performance of the Night. He recently moved to the light heavyweight division.


Pereira currently has a MMA record of 12 fights. He won 10 fights (8 by knockout and 2 by decision) and lost 2 fights (1 by knockout and 1 by submission). At UFC 291 in July 2023, Pereira faced off against Jan Blachowicz, the former light heavyweight champion of the UFC, and emerged victorious via split decision.


Alex Pereira faced Jiri Prochazka at UFC 296 for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. He defeated Prochazka by a second-round TKO and became the new champion of the division.

Aline Silva Pereira is the younger sister of Alex Pereira. She currently competes in the flyweight division of the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA). Aline Pereira was born on October 6, 1990, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil.


Aline Pereira has a kickboxing background, just like her brother. She is a newcomer to the world of MMA. She made her MMA debut at Legacy Fighting Championship 147: Melo vs. Costa on November 18, 2022. Then, she faced Helen Peralta, who defeated her via unanimous decision at 5 minutes into Round 3.
