Brandon McManus’ Parents

The Green Bay Packers' placekicker Brandon McManus went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft. He has participated in 170 games as of December 2024, scoring 1,146 points with 269 field goals on 328 attempts and 339 extra points on 348 attempts, according to Pro Football Reference. In May 2023, he signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars after playing for the Broncos for almost ten years. After one season, he joined the Washington Commanders in March 2024 and was fired in June. In October of that year, he signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers.

From 2009 to 2012, McManus played college football with the Temple Owls, where he was named to the second team of the MAC in 2011. He later joined the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts and participated in the preseason games for the New York Giants the following year. In August 2014, he was traded by the Giants to the Denver Broncos, with whom he later won the 2015 Super Bowl.

McManus was exposed to athletics at a young age by his mother, Susan, who played basketball and tennis for Philadelphia University, and his father, Dennis, who wrestled and played soccer. The younger kids of Dennis and Susan had an easy time buying for Christmas each year because her older sister, Lauren, played soccer at Slippery Rock University. These presents eventually brought McManus to his middle school's fields.

During the 2011–12 school year, McManus took part in 11 different community service events, but the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure stood out as his favorite as per his college page. For McManus, the cause is personal because two aunts have fought and overcome the illness.

The McManuses do everything in their power to help their kids succeed in sports and teach them the value of giving back. They bought 22 season tickets for the 2012 season this fall to guarantee that the whole family could see Brandon play.

Since many kickers have a difficult path to the NFL, McManus will and does benefit from his family's stability during these difficult moments. However, he had a very good fallback plan and the backing of his family in case things didn't work out in the NFL.
