Tim Hardaway Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).


He was born on March 16, 1992, in Alameda, California. He played college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines and declared for the NBA draft after his junior season. His father is Tim Hardaway Sr., who was also an NBA basketball player.


Tim Hardaway Jr. was drafted by the New York Knicks with the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. As Hardaway Jr debuted for the Knicks, he showed promise as a scorer off the bench and averaged 10.1 points per game while shooting over 36% from beyond the arc.


Despite averaging just over double digits, Knicks management ultimately decided to trade Hardaway Jr to the Atlanta Hawks. His first season with the Hawks wasn't very promising. By the 2016/17 season, however, he got better with his skills on the court averaging 14.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.


By the 2017/18 season, Tim Hardaway Jr. was back with the Knicks and stayed with them for two seasons. For the duration of his second run with the Knicks, Hardaway Jr. averaged approximately 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.


Late during the 2018/19 regular season, Hardaway Jr. was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He has now spent four seasons playing for Dallas where he has averaged about 15 points, 3 rebounds, and close to 2 assists per game.

Tim Hardaway Jr. was born on March 16, 1992, in Alameda County, California. He is the son of former NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr and Yolanda Adkins Hardaway. His father Tim Sr. played for various teams including the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat between 1989 and 2003.


Growing up around basketball due to his father's profession as a professional player, Tim began playing at a young age and excelled during his high school years while attending Palmer Trinity School in Palmetto Bay before making himself available over college opportunities, eventually choosing Michigan Wolverines where he played for three seasons from 2010 till 2013.


Tim Jr. averaged 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists throughout his college career, attracting much-deserved attention from the NBA Scouts.
