If there is a Power forward who has the potential to play crucial minutes and consistently start for the Dallas Mavericks, it is Maximilian Kleber. A 12-year veteran of the game, Maxi has pretty much played the best competitions in the toughest of European leagues. Born in Wurzburg, Germany, the sport of Basketball came naturally to Maxi. Growing up, he played in the junior ranks of TG veitshöchheim and TG Würzburg; two of the most well-known and established Athletic Clubs in Germany.

Although Maxi had the opportunity to play College Basketball in the United States, he chose to stay in Germany and decided to begin his professional career in Basketball Bundesliga. It was six years into his professional career that the Dallas Mavericks came calling with an opportunity he couldn’t refuse.

Maxi Kleber Age

Maxi is 31 years old and was born on January 29, 1992. Kleber made his professional debut for the Würzburg Baskets. Maxi is among the few players who began their professional basketball career by debuting for their home team. The then 19-year-old played seven minutes on average in his first season and served as a role player for the team.

Being a young forward, his objective was to develop a more nuanced understanding of the game and learn how Professional basketball is more layered and different from the junior competitions he was used to. Entering his second season, he showed his skills, averaging nearly 10 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

In 2014, Maxi was part of the NBA Draft but wasn’t picked by any team. He returned to Europe intending to refine his game and overall attributes.

He signed with Monbus Obradoiro during the 2014 offseason to play tougher competition and more experienced talent. Maxi was decent in his first season with the Obradoiro, averaging 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game. Maxi seemed more polished in his performances and played more aggressively than in his previous seasons.

Maxi returned to Basketball Bundesliga after signing a promising two-year deal with one of the league’s top teams; Bayern Munich. Max was a decent contributor for the team, averaging 7.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 2015-16, and 9.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game in 2016-17.

Maxi bid adieu to Bundesliga in 2017 after he signed with the Dallas Mavericks and left with some deserving achievements to his name:

  • Two-time German League All-Star (2017)

  • German League most effective player (2017)

  • All-German League Second Team (2017)

  • All-EuroCup second team (2017)

Maxi Kleber has managed to become a regular fixture on the Mavericks’ defensive end and will continue to perform for the team’s success in the coming seasons.
