Vasilije Micić is a Serbian point guard. Micic was drafted with the 52nd pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, but he didn’t come to NBA back then. Micic made NBA debut 9 years after he was drafted when he signed a three-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2023. In February 2024, Micic was traded by the OKC Thunder to the Charlotte Hornets, where he plays as a backup behind star point guard LaMelo Ball as of 2024.
Before venturing into the NBA, Micić played in Europe and is considered to be one of the best EuroLeague players in the last 10 years. He had an illustrious career in Europe with several elite teams. Micic started his professional basketball career with Mega Vizura (2010–2014) and went on to play for Bayern Munich (2014–2016), Crvena Zvezda (2015–2016), Tofaş (2016–2017), Žalgiris Kaunas (2017–2018), and most notably, Anadolu Efes (2018–2023). His time at Anadolu Efes was tremendous, as he helped the Istanbul-based powerhouse team win back-to-back EuroLeague championships in 2021 and 2022. Micic also won two EuroLeague Final Four MVPs for both seasons. In the 2020-21 season, Vasilije Micić was named EuroLeague MVP, averaging 16.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 48.9% from the field, 38.9% from three-point range, and 86.5% from the free-throw line. Micic is known for his elite ball-handling and passing skills. In the 2024-25 NBA season, Micić brings a wealth of experience to the young and exciting Hornets team.
