Perez delivers after promising wheelchair-bound fan home run
Kansas City Royals star Salvador Perez is a man of his word after promising a wheelchair-bound fan he would hit a homer against the Cleveland Indians.
Perez met Colin Couch before Friday's game and he promised the Royals supporter a home run.
The six-time MLB All-Star delivered with a 454-foot homer in the first inning at Kauffman Stadium, where the contest was delayed for around 30 minutes after a pipe burst in the bullpen.
Play was halted for around 30 minutes in the fourth inning on Friday after water started to flood out of the pen's gate and into the outfield.
The grounds crew worked to get the situation under control before the game resumed.
