Kobe Bufkin, born on September 21, 2003, is an American college basketball player who plays for the Michigan Wolverines. Bufkin is one of the brightest players entering the 2023 NBA draft and many scouts have projected him to be a lottery pick, in the 11-14 pick range.

Kobe Bufkin Injuries In High School

Bufkin played for Grand Rapids High School, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In his sophomore season, Bufkin averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He became a more polished player as a junior, averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while leading the school to a 20-2 record.

Bufkin missed most of his senior year with a hairline fracture in his left wrist which he suffered in a game against Catholic Central. The fracture was fortunately on his non shooting hand. Bufkin averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a senior, but played in only 5 games that season. Bufkin was a consensus four-star recruit and committed to playing for the Michigan Wolverines in 2021.

Kobe Bufkin Injuries in College

In the 2022/23 season, Bufkin averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He didn’t play much in his freshman season but really stepped up in his sophomore year, and became a key player for the Wolverines following the departures of many players at the start of his sophomore year. Bufkin’s college career was relatively injury free compared to his high school career as he missed only one game with a right ankle sprain. Bufkin’s college career was highlighted by a 87-76 win against Wisconsin in which he scored a career-high 28 points. Bufkin was named to the All-Big Ten third team and was also an honourable mention by the coaches.

Bufkin is one of the many stars expected to be drafted in the 2023 NBA draft. The 2023 NBA draft will be held on June 22 with coverage tipping off at 8 ET on ABC and ESPN.
