Thompson attended Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida along with his twin brother, Amen. As a junior, he averaged 22.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Amen was just behind Ausar averaging 20.5 points per game. The twins dominated their way through high school. Together, the twins won the state title and were five-star recruits before the Thompson twins bypassed their senior year of high school to sign with OTE, where they played for two seasons.
