Reaching 34 significant singles finals, Evert won 18 major singles championships, including six US Open crowns, a joint-record (tied with Serena Williams) and seven French Open titles. Her lifetime career win–loss record is 1309–146 (89.96%) in singles matches. That's the best record of any professional player, man or woman in the Open Era. Tennis writer Steve Flink wrote a book naming Evert as the third best female player of the 20th century, after Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova. In 1975–76 and 1983–91, Evert presided over the Women's Tennis Association for eleven years. The star retired in 1989. The Philippe Chatrier award and the Hall of Fame induction were given to her. Evert was a coach in his later years and is currently an analyst for ESPN.
