Born on December 21, 1954, Christine Marie Evert is an American professional tennis player and former world no.1. The celebrity is also known as Chris Evert Lloyd from 1979 to 1987. Evert dominated women’s tennis as she held the top spot in the world rankings for 260 weeks and seven different times at the end of the singles season.
Reaching 34 significant singles finals, Evert won 18 major singles championships, including six US Open crowns, a joint-record (tied with Serena Williams) and seven French Open titles. The 18-time grand slam champion also holds the record for the most years in a row in which she has won a major championship. She also won three major doubles titles. Her lifetime career win–loss record is 1309–146 (89.96%) in singles matches. That's the best record of any professional player, man or woman in the Open Era. Chris Evert was a favorite on the clay courts. Her win-loss rate of 94.05% (316/20) remains a WTA record. Tennis writer Steve Flink wrote a book naming Evert as the third best female player of the 20th century, after Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova.
