Bronny James

Bronny James whose real name is LeBron Raymone James Jr., is an American combo guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the son of NBA legend LeBron James. Bronny was selected with the 55th pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, who signed him to a four-year rookie deal worth $7.9 million. Bronny now plays alongside his father in the Lakers team, making them the NBA's first active father-son duo. Standing 6 feet 1.5 inches, Bronny James is known for his skill in catch-and-shoot situations and can also shoot off the dribble. As a four-star recruit from Sierra Canyon High School, he went on to play one season at USC, where he earned one of the highest NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) earnings among college athletes, which included deals with Nike and Beats by Dre.

Beyond basketball, Bronny is an avid gamer. In 2020, he signed with the esports organization FaZe Clan, where he streams Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone under the handle "FaZe Bronny." He even appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in June 2021 with FaZe Clan members, including NFL quarterback Kyler Murray. Now in his first season with the Lakers, Bronny is splitting time between the Lakers' main roster and their G-League team as he works to find his role with the team.

Injuries Bronny James sustained before the NBA

Cardiac Arrest (2023 March)

In March 2023, Bronny James was projected as a top-ten pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. However, on July 24, 2023, during a USC practice at the Galen Center, Bronny collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart defect. He was quickly hospitalized but fortunately released on July 27 after a full recovery.

After the incident, LeBron James expressed his gratitude on social media to all the fans, and media members for supporting his family in tough times, saying — "I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you, and I’m so grateful. Everyone is doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us! #JamesGang" (via Twitter)

Bronny James’ health setback sidelined him for five months, causing him to miss eight games for the USC Trojans. The incident affected his performance for the USC Trojans as he averaged just 4.8 points per game in 25 games. His draft stock plummeted, as once Bronny was termed as a potential lottery pick, but eventually, he dropped to the second round and was selected 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft.
