As of November 2024, Fernández has been serving as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets professional basketball team in the NBA. He was hired as the head coach of the Nets on April 22, 2024.

Jordi Fernández began his coaching career in Spain before making the transition to the NBA. His coaching journey began at just 15 years old when he started working with CB Sant Josep de Badalona's youth team setup. He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009 as a player development coach, where he tutored several players until 2013. In 2013, he joined the Canton Charge in the NBA Development League as the top assistant coach. After a year, he became the head coach of the Canton Charge in 2014 and served in that role until 2016. From 2016 to 2022, Fernández served as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets. He then joined the Sacramento Kings as an assistant head coach from 2022 to 2024 before joining the Brooklyn Nets as the head coach in 2024.
