Luka Dončić is a Slovenian professional basketball player who was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. As of February 2025, he plays shooting/point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers after getting traded from the Dallas Mavericks on February 2, 2025. Doncic was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2019. He was the Euroscar Player of the Year in 2019 and the Liga ACB champion in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Doncic first played as a professional player for Real Madrid Baloncesto, a Spanish professional basketball club, in the Liga ACB and internationally in the EuroLeague.
Doncic was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks as the third overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft, but then he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He made his debut in the NBA regular season for the Mavericks against the Phoenix Suns on October 17, 2018.
