Malcolm Brogdon, a shooting guard for the Washington Wizards, was traded to the latter by the Portland Blazers in July 2024. He was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 36th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft. He later won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, making him the first NBA second-round selection to do so since 1965. Brogdon was the eighth player in NBA history to finish with a 50–40–90 record in 2019. He was traded to the Indiana Pacers in the 2019 offseason before joining the Boston Celtics in 2022, where he was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2023. Further, in October 2023, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Brogdon went to Greater Atlanta Christian School, following which he played college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers under Tony Bennett in 2011. As a senior in 2015-16, he was a consensus first-team All-American. He was also named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player in conference history to earn both honors in the same season. In four seasons with the Virginia Cavaliers, he played in 136 games, starting 109, averaging 13.3 points, 2.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds.
