
Born in Lubumbashi, DR Congo, Oscar Tshiebwe’s basketball career began after moving to the USA in 2015. He played high school basketball for Mountain Mission School and Kennedy Catholic High School and won several awards during his high school career and also played in the McDonald's All-American game (2019) and the Nike Hoop Summit game (2019). As a five-star recruit, Tshiebwe played college basketball for West Virginia and Kentucky and was named the 2022 National Player of the Year as well as the SEC Player of the Year while playing for Kentucky.
However, Tshiebwe went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and was signed on a two-way contract by the Indiana Pacers. He only featured in eight NBA games and spent most of his time at the NBA G-League. A strong performance in the G-League helped him establish his game and he went on to dominate in the 2024 NBA Summer League as well. This helped him land a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz for the 2024-25 season.
