Adem Bona, a Nigerian-Turkish basketball player currently competes at the collegiate level of basketball at the University of California, Los Angeles. Born on March 28, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, Bona used to play football in his native. He discovered basketball and his talent in the sport later when he was scouted by a Turkish Coach.

Bona’s introduction to the game of basketball can be attributed to his height. He started off playing using makeshift hoops in the fields. He was spotted by a Turkish coach who facilitated his entry into professional basketball.

Bona made the decision to come to the United States to further his basketball career and did so at the Prolific Prep High School in California. He soon established himself as a 5-star recruit and received offers from multiple universities.

Adem Bona committed to play at the University of California, Los Angeles. By the end of his time at prolific prep, Bona was a 5-star recruit with a national rank of 17. He received offers from UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas and Arizona State.

At UCLA, Bona took opportunities and bloomed into a very good player. He was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week consecutively in his freshman year. He led the UCLA Bruins in blocks recording 57 blocks and had the second highest field goal percentage in the Pac-12 conference, shooting 67.5% in the 2022-23 season.
