Who are Adem Bona's parents?

Adem Bona is an Nigerian-Turkish basketball player at the college level for the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins. Born on March 28, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, Bona started to play soccer at a young age. Basketball was discovered by him later and quickly grew into the sport he learned to love.

Bona started playing basketball due to his height. Due to inaccessibility or unavailability to courts, Bona started to play basketball in fields using makeshift hoops. He was identified by a Turkish coach who then used his network to get Bona to play for Istanbul Basket, a team in Turkey.

From playing professional basketball in Turkey, Bona decided to continue his basketball career path at Prolific Prep, a high school in California, United States. He completed his high school education and emerged as a consensus 5-star recruit and committed to play at UCLA over the other colleges he received offers from such as Kentucky. At college, Bona was spectacular, eventually earning a spot Pac-12 All Defense and Pac-12 All Freshman teams. He also was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and even earned an honorary mention on the All Pac-12 team.

Adem Bona was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He was born on March 28, 2003, to Chikaodiri Okoro and Udu Chinyere (goes by the name Cigdem). From interviews it is known that Bona does not come from a family of athletes. There has been no reported professional athlete in Bona’s family. However, he is reported to have stated that the members of his family would play soccer for fun at a young age.

Not much is known about Bona’s parents. Bona’s father is dead while his mother continues to support his career and life. His mother was reluctant about letting him play basketball as she did not take the sport seriously back in Nigeria. However, after being convinced by his siblings, Cigdem eventually allowed Bona to try his hand at this sport which has now become a dream come true for Bona. That was how Bona was introduced to the sport of basketball.

Adem Bona comes from a family of 5 siblings of which he is the youngst child. Bona has two brothers and two sisters. Bona’s brothers’ names are Obinna and Emeka while his sisters’s names are Chidinma and Amaka. They have been a huge support in his life and were partly responsible in Bona’s introduction to the game of basketball.
