Aaron Donald plays for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). Born on May 23, 1991, he plays in the position of defensive tackle. He played college football at Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a degree in communications in 2020 and was also recognized as a unanimous All-American. In the 2014 NFL Draft, he was drafted in the first round by the Rams as the thirteenth pick.
In his seven years in the league, he has been selected to seven Pro Bowls. He has won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and has been named AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times, having won it back-to-back in 2017 and 2018, and again in 2020. Donald has been cited as one of the greatest defensive tackles of all time.
In 2018, Donald signed a massive six-year extension with the LA Rams worth $135 million, the richest-ever deal signed by a defensive player. His $22.5 million-per-season average salary is the second-most of any defensive player behind only Chicago's Khalil Mack. Donald set the record for fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, for a defensive tackle with a 4.68.
In his opening season, Donald was one of five rookies selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl. He was selected for the second consecutive season for the Pro Bowl and a third time, the following season. He was also ranked 14th on the 2016 list of Top 100 NFL Players, 15th in the 2017 list, and 7th in the 2018 list. He was ranked the best in the 2019 list of Top 100 NFL Players by his peers. He also got selected for the 2021 Pro Bowl.
Donald is considered to be the best interior pass rusher in the league right now, and perhaps the best pass rusher. His ability to generate as much pressure as he does from the defensive tackle position is incredible.
