LeSean McCoy Early Life

LeSean McCoy was born on July 12, 1988, in the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He went to Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg and was part of their football team as a running back. His immense talent at the position was already on display even at a young age as he ran for over 400 yards in a single game in his sophomore year. In his junior year, he rushed for nearly 3,000 yards and wanted to attend Miami University after passing out.

Unfortunately, due to academic issues and an injury, he had to attend prep school at Milford Academy in New York for one year. Later on, McCoy opted to go to the University of Pittsburgh.

At Pittsburg, it did not take long for McCoy to show what he was made of as he quickly performed to the best of his capabilities and was an important factor in the new offense the Panthers were running that year. Known as the ‘Wildcat Offense’, McCoy would take direct snaps from the center standing in place of the quarterback and would rush ahead with the ball already in his hand.

By his sophomore year, McCoy was already being looked at as one of the top running backs in college football. He had another spectacular year performing even better than his freshman year. He put up over 1,300 and 1,400 rushing yards in both years and added 14 and 21 rushing touchdowns respectively. Having missed one year due to his injury in his senior year of high school, LeSean felt that it was time to become a professional player and decided to end his college career after just his sophomore year. As a result, he declared for the 2009 NFL Draft.

LeSean McCoy Personal Life

Born in Pennsylvania in 1988, McCoy was a standout football player even as a kid. His parents are Daphne and Ron McCoy and he has an older brother named LeRon. He used to be in a relationship a few years ago but his current relationship status is single. He does however have one son.

McCoy had also developed a keen new hobby for boxing but said that it was only limited to training and that he had no intentions of actually turning professional. He likes to do cardio and saw boxing as part of his plans for the same. In his free time, he has also taught the game of football to kids and youth as a means of giving back to the sport everything that he has received.

LeSean McCoy Family Background

LeSean McCoy was born in 1988 to parents Daphne McCoy and Ron McCoy. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of information regarding his parents as their lives seem to have been kept rather private. What is known is that he shares a great bond with his parents. A few years ago LeSean surprised his mother on Mother’s Day and gifted her a brand new Jaguar. His mother was also very supportive of her son when he was accused of domestic violence by his ex when his mother came out in his defense saying that her son would never hit a woman.

As for Ron McCoy, he gave an interview to ‘ Class Act Sports’ a couple of years after LeSean was drafted and was indeed very proud of what his son had accomplished till then. He mentioned that he knew his son was a good player locally but he had doubts about how well he would do against the various college teams from across the country. He went on to add that LeSean surprises him too on the field with his running and that his son has got the blessing from God to have such a great vision.

LeSean McCoy Brother

The former Eagles running back has an older brother named LeRon McCoy who also played American football but to a lesser degree of popularity. LeRon was also born in Harrisburg and went to the same high school as his brother. He then attended IUP University where he played as a wide receiver.

LeRon was then drafted in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals but he could never carve out a career in the league like his younger sibling. He played a couple of seasons with the Cardinals but showed no spectacular signs of developing into a top wide receiver. Then he went to the San Francisco 49ers for one season before joining the Houston Texans in 2008 as a practice squad member or an offseason member. That was the last time LeRon was part of the NFL.

LeSean McCoy Ex-Girlfriend

Once again there is not too much information about his ex-girlfriend. McCoy used to date internet personality and actress Delicia Cordon many years ago but there are reports where she has accused her ex of robbing her and even attacking her while she was in her house. At the time in 2018, McCoy was playing for the Buffalo Bills franchise.

LeSean McCoy NFL Journey

LeSean McCoy’s NFL journey saw him become one of the most dynamic running backs of that time. He played in 170 games, starting 141 of those and with four different franchises throughout his career.

He is a two-time Super Bowl Champion and a six-time Pro Bowler. In 2013 he was the league’s rushing yards leader and was the NFL rushing touchdown leader in 2011. McCoy was somewhat of a dual threat runner in the NFL having run for over 11,000 rushing yards while falling a few yards short of 4,000 receiving yards. He also had 73 rushing touchdowns to his name.

Philadelphia Eagles (2009-2014)

The former running back started his career in the professional league with the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. He spent his first six years with the team where he quickly cemented his place as a starter. Within six years with the franchise, he totaled 6,792 yards to become the all-time rushing leader for the Eagles.

Buffalo Bills (2015-2018)

In 2015, McCoy joined the Buffalo Bills as he was traded by the Eagles and he signed a five-year deal with his new franchise. There was a lot of negativity within himself at the time as he was unhappy with the Eagles coach and their general manager for getting rid of all the good players.

In any case, he started his career in Buffalo slowly as he was also carrying a hamstring injury. Over the four years he spent with the Bills, his number of carries came down. In spite of this he still had two good seasons in 2016 and 2017. In 2019, he was cut from the team during the final roster cuts.

Kansas City Chiefs (2019)

In 2019 when he joined the Kansas City Chiefs, he was once again reunited with his former Eagles’ coach, Andy Reid. He signed a one-year deal with the team and was used cautiously for a change of pace whenever required. He was used only once in the postseason when he played 1 snap against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. Nevertheless, as the Chiefs lifted the Lombardi Trophy that year, he won his first-ever ring in Super Bowl LIV.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020)

In 2020, McCoy signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but once again had a very limited role. He was used sparingly due to the depth in the Bucs lineup at the position. Once again he had no contributions in the postseason but earned his second ring as the Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

In October 2021, McCoy decided to retire from the NFL, thus bringing an end to a glorious 12-year run.

LeSean McCoy Diet

Back when the star running back was a prolific player in the league, he decided to cut back on junk food and reduced his late-night snacking on Doritos considerably to shed some pounds. He went on to lose five pounds and he felt the difference as his speed increased and he felt lighter on the ground as well.

A few years later when he joined the Bills, he again worked out a diet plan where he cut out on eating bread and once again reduced his snack intake. He started eating more fresh food and incorporated more proteins such as fish and controlled his portions as well.
