"I don’t believe in psychological advantage" - Rohit Sharma on India's superior World Cup record vs Pakistan

At a pre-match press conference on Friday, Rohit Sharma downplayed the buzz about India having a psychological advantage due to their superior record against Pakistan in the World Cup. The Men in Blue are unbeaten against Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches, winning all seven of their previous encounters.

Giving his opinion on the matter, Rohit Sharma revealed that he likes to focus on the present rather than thinking about past glory. He said:

“I don’t believe in psychological advantage. You need to play good cricket every day. We don’t want to think about what has happened, but instead focus on the fresh day and fresh opposition. Both teams will start on even terms. I don’t think any side is favorite or underdog. It’s important to start well and carry that momentum forward."

He added:

“I am not a person who looks into all that kind of stats [7-0]. You’ve got to play good cricket on the particular day to win the game."

Pakistan does have a better overall record against India in the ODI format. In 134 ODI matches between the two nations, Pakistan has registered 73 wins, while the Men in Blue have triumphed 56 times. Five matches ended without a result.
