Arsenal make Greek youngster Elias Chatzitheodoridis their first summer signing

Wenger confirms their first signing of the summer

Arsenal have made their first summer signing by confirming the arrival of 17-year-old Greek youngster Elias Chatzitheodoridis.

The Gunners have agreed a deal to sign Chatzitheodoridis after he impressed the club’s coaching staff during a recent trial.

Chatzitheodoridis, who was playing for local club Mas Kallitheakos, was training part-time at Arsenal’s academy in Greece when it became apparent that his talent was more deserving of a club of Arsenal’s stature.

He was quickly sent to north London for a short trial, and after playing against various big-name youth teams including Real Madrid, Arsenal decided to sign him and make him Arsene Wenger’s first official summer signing.

According to On Volos, he has signed a two-year contract with the club and will begin his career playing for Arsenal’s youth ranks next season.

He may not be the most desirable signing for supporters who may be angry that Wenger decided not to re-sign Cesc Fabregas, who is available for around £30 million.

The Gunners have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria and Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne, who may be on the end of a £17m bid from Arsenal if he impresses at the World Cup.
