Dempo Sports Club and Salgaocar Football Club have come together to a mutual agreement of not poaching each others players ahead of the transfer season.

Shrinivas Dempo, who is the chairman of Dempo Sports Club, said: “We have got into an informal understanding. We have decided that if we are genuinely targeting each others players, we will first discuss on the phone, be candid of what we are offering, and if we agree, we will trade off the player. There is no point in putting one against the other.”

This can well prove to be a good move for the teams as both Dempo and Salgaocar have suffered in recent times when a player is on verge of signing a club but negotiating deals with the other.

Dempo added: “The idea is to try and avoid signing players (from each other’s teams). If we are interested, I will consult Salgaocar and the same goes with them. It will be a complete consultative process so that someone else does not take advantage.

Shivanand Salgaocar, who is the chairman of Salgaocar Football Club, was unavailable to comment on the same but however, general secretary’ RAJ Gomes confirmed that the clubs have come to a mutual agreement.
