Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has told English club Manchester City that they can give up all hope of trying to get Sergio Ramos to join their ranks.

Ramos himself has stated that he hopes to end his career at Madrid and wishes to lengthen his current deal at the club, caughtoffside reports.

The 27-year-old left his boyhood club Sevilla to join Real Madrid in 2005 where he was named as the La Liga‘s breakthrough player. He is touted as one of the best right-backs in the world and is a pivotal part of Real Madrid.

The Spanish international has been courted by various English clubs in the past some of which include Chelsea and Manchester United. The most recent club to express interest in the player is Manchester City who have been told by Perez to back off.

“To Sergio Ramos, I have much affection,” he told Marca.

“He will retire here. There are no offers for him because they know we will not sell him. We will deal with his renewal at the appropriate time.”

Ex-Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini, who now coaches City, had unsuccessfully tried to bring Pepe to Manchester this year due to them being vulnerable at the back.

Sergio Ramos has been ever-present for Madrid and Spain the and has been part of sides that have won three La Liga’s and two Euro’s and a World Cup with his country.
