Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva has hailed the development of his young team-mate Raheem Sterling, praising the 19 year old as the side’s best player over the past few months.

Sterling scored twice to help Liverpool to a 3-2 win over Norwich City on Sunday, prompting manager Brendan Rodgers to label the former QPR man as the best young player in Europe on current form.

Lucas also featured against Norwich and told reporters that Sterling is improving all the time and is playing without fear, before also praising his consistency.

“He is showing he is developing and improving all the time,” Lucas raved about his midfield team-mate.

“Raheem is playing with no fear, players normally have ups and downs, but he is really consistent and has probably been our best player over the past few months.”

Sterling’s form has come at the right time for Liverpool, who have now won their past 11 league fixtures. The England winger has netted six goals in his last 11 games, to bring his tally for the season to eight.
