Barcelona’s demolition of Real Betis last night was down to the brilliance of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The duo picked up where they left off last season as they absolutely ridiculed the opposition defence.

It felt like the duo had never had a summer break. Such was their mesmerizing chemistry that it felt like they could score a goal at will. Messi bagged a brace and Luis Suarez grabbed a hat-trick in his very first game back in Spain.

Ruben Castro did equalize with a brilliant free-kick before Messi went on one of his typical runs on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful low placed shot in the back of the net. Suarez then made it 3-1 with an incredible first team finish.

In the second half, Suarez scored two more with one an incredible free-kick and the other a tap in after magician Messi set him. Suarez was all praise for the Argentine after the game and gave a unique description of the superstar.

“Leo has started like a beast and is the best player in the world, All you can do is surrender to his feet and enjoy him.”

Messi had a poor summer after he and his Argentina team lost the final of the Copa America for a second consecutive time against Chile in the penalty shoot out. It broke Messi’s heart ot the extent he decided to retire only to be convinced out of it by new coach Edgardo Bauza. But all those bad memories were erased after yesterday's wonderful display
