Luke Shaw sends a message of solidarity for Demba Ba after the striker's horrific injury

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has sent a heart-warming message of solidarity to injured Shanghai Shenua striker Demba Ba. Football injuries like injuries in any sport are often very serious and end up affecting not only the individual and family but also their teams and fans. If anyone can gauge what Ba is going through now, it is Luke Shaw and he has rightly wished the former Chelsea striker a speedy recovery.

Ba suffered a terrible leg-break injury while appearing during Shanghai Shenhua's 2-1 win over Shanghai SPIG in the Chinese Super League last Sunday. The 31-year-old went down with his left leg giving way beneath the knee but the Senegalese footballer has refused to give up even after this career-threatening injury and is hopeful of coming back stronger next season.

He told reporters: "This is a really bad injury but I can overcome it. I won't call time on my career, that's for sure.”

Luke Shaw had suffered a similar gruesome double leg-break injury during last season's Champions League against PSV Eindhoven. Shaw has admitted that he feared his career could be over after fracturing the tibia and fibula in his right leg. However the Manchester United left back returned to the field in a friendly against Wigan just 24 hours before Demba Ba’s injury.

Shaw missed Euro 2016 after failing to recover in time and his injury had a pronounced effect on Manchester United’s performance last season. However, Shaw has always maintained his appreciation for the fans’ support and well-wishes during his injury and now he has offered the same vial of strength and support to his fellow professional plying the same trade in the Chinese league.

“I’m so sorry to hear about the news of your latest injury,’ Shaw said. ‘Obviously I’ve been through the same thing so I know how you’re feeling right now.

“Keep strong, keep your family and friends close because for me that was the most important thing at the time.

“I’m sending all my best and I hope the operations go well and that you’re back on the pitch in no time. I’m sure you’ll be stronger than ever.”

Luke Shaw is currently in Shanghai this week for the club’s pre-season tour of China where the Red Devils slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.

Ba meanwhile had started this season stupendously scoring 14 goals in 18 appearances though now obviously cut short by this injury. This is not the first noble gesture from Shaw. He had sent a similar message to Kurt Zouma after he suffered a serious knee injury last season.
