Reports: Cristiano Ronaldo to appear in Martin Scorsese movie

Fifa Balon D'Or Oscar
Future record holder for most Oscars from a single role?

He’s done it all in football, surely to be remembered as one of the best in the game. Now, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his movie debut, as Spanish news outlet Marca reported. The Portuguese superstar is supposedly being lined up for a part in Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese’s next film.

The film called ‘The Manipulator’ is going to be about the life of eccentric millionaire Proto, on whom the character Christian Grey from 50 shades of Grey is reportedly based. Ronaldo is the owner of a Manhattan flat in Trump Tower that Proto previously owned. Scorsese apparently wants to use the flat as a location for his film which supposedly spurred a series of events which led to Ronaldo being offered a part in the film itself.

The fact that the footballer owns a lease to the apartment is the sole reason by virtue of which he was reported to have been offered the part. But it is a report that could be entirely feasible given the situation and Ronaldo’s flair off the pitch which means he is often seen in the company of actors, singers and musicians. He has a penchant for superstardom and this could be just another area that the Portuguese captain could appear in.

It’s not just Ronaldo who’s reportedly set to feature in a film, recently, even David Beckham was touted to be the next James Bond. A role that seems tailor-made for the savvy former England midfielder who like Ronaldo has a massive fan following for reasons not limited to their footballing acumen.

Even if this is a story that does not hold much water apart from the fact that the movie will be shot in parts at the apartment Ronaldo owns in Manhattan, the Real Madrid hero will soon have a biopic about him released to the masses. Titled, ‘Ronaldo’ it has been described as a documentary about the "world's best footballer". While, the timing of it's release is not known, Ronaldo himself confirmed the biopic on Twitter a couple of months ago.

While all the details of the Scorsese film and Ronaldo’s role in it are murky, it would be interesting to see the Portuguese star on the big screen, for all we know his true calling may be the silver screen rather than on the green pitch he currently inhabits.
