He later joined the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92's youth system, where he caught the attention of Mets head coach Vincent Collet. In 2017, he began playing for the Levallois Sporting Club Basket. From 2021 to 2023, he played for the Metropolitans 92, where he averaged 21.9 points, 2.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game in the LNB Espoirs competition, getting promoted to the senior team.

In the 2023 NBA Draft, Coulibaly was selected by the Wizards as the seventh overall pick in the first round. He officially signed a contract with the team on July 2, 2023. Coulibaly has also represented France on the international stage. He played for the French men's national under-18 team and competed in the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship in Turkey. He averaged 7.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in that tournament, helping France secure fifth place. Additionally, he participated in the 2024 Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris, where France secured the silver medal.
