Born on July 13, 1995, in Melbourne, Australia, Dante Exum is an Australian national born to American parents. He plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the combo guard role.

Exum was a highly-rated prospect in the 2014 NBA Draft and was drafted with the fifth overall pick by the Utah Jazz. He played all 82 games as a rookie, becoming the 10th rookie in franchise history to do so. In 2015, Exum sustained an ACL injury, which slowed his development, forcing him to miss an entire season. He suffered from more injuries in the coming seasons and was eventually traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After a short stint with the Cavs, Exum found success in Europe, playing for FC Barcelona and Partizan Belgrade. He won the Spanish Cup in 2022, and ABA league champion in 2023, while being named on the All-ABA first team. His great two-way performances for Partizan led the Mavs to sign him, where he is a valuable asset off the bench.

In the 2023/24 season, Exum has averaged the third most points for the Mavs in clutch situations, behind only Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. He averaged 2.4 points per game in clutch situations, on 57.9% shooting in the season.
