The “Greek Freak,” who is correctly named so due to his freakish physical abilities coupled with his movement on the basketball court, is one of the most dominant players in the NBA today. At 28 years old, Giannis Antetokounmpo still has some very good years of basketball left in him. Even so, he is a force that cannot be stopped easily on the court and has already tasted the glory of becoming an NBA champion.

Antetokounmpo’s physical attributes such as his height, wingspan, large hands, speed, and movement allow him to rack up double digit rebounds, nearly half a dozen assists and average over one steal and one block per game. In 63 games played in the regular season, Giannis averaged 31.1 points and 11.8 assists per game.

However, the fact of the matter is that Giannis has been the most dominant player in the paint for many years now. But it is his outside shooting which has been the thorn in his side until more recently. He has improved his mid-range and 3-point scoring over the past few years, but he hasn’t yet reached the same level that other big players in the league have. That said, let us now see how he fared when it comes to his 3-point scoring.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Career 3s

According to Statmuse, Giannis has made 494 3-pointers in his career. This is from his debut season till the end of the 2022-23 NBA season. The Bucks forward made 47 3-point field goals in the 2022/23 season. Furthermore, his 3-point percentage is quite low at 28.7 percent meaning he is making slightly above a quarter of his shots from beyond the arc.

The 7 foot Greek national is not one to take many 3-point shots. In fact, when he was new in the league he took considerably fewer threes than now. He has developed his shooting from outside the paint and even beyond the arc, but he is still not at the similar standard as to most of his contemporaries in this regard.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Shooting

Since his entry in the league from 2013 onwards, Giannis has not been known to be a scoring machine and a lights out shooter. He has, though, worked on his weaknesses and has gotten better as the seasons have passed. While his 3-point shooting still needs more work and consistency, the two areas where he has shown improvement are his free throws and mid-range game.

With a little more effort, there is no doubt that the seven-time All-Star can’t get better at his shooting game. At 28 years of age, Giannis still has plenty of time before he is done playing, and till then he even has a couple of years to peak.
