This NBA draft is one of the most anticipated in the long-standing and illustrious history of the league and one player captivates the fans more than anyone: Victor Webanyama. But there is another player, lurking in the shadows, content to stand outside the spotlight and let his game talk for himself. And that player is Scoot Henderson.

Scoot Henderson Age

Sterling “Scoot” Henderson, born on February 4, 2004, is the youngest player ever to play in the G League after he signed with the Ignite while just 17 years old. The 19-year phenom is one of the brightest and most talented players in the upcoming 2023 NBA draft. Standing at 6 ‘4 and weighing around 196 lbs, Scoot already has the body of an NBA player at his young age. What separates Scoot from other prospects is his lightning-quick first step and his breath-taking ability to finish all manner of shots around the basket. And if he’s in the open court, look out because you will definitely need more than one player to stop him. This earned him the nickname “Scoot” with how quickly he would scoot across the floor.

Henderson spent most of his childhood in Marietta, Georgia with his father Chris Henderson, and his mother Crystal Henderson. His father is a professional trainer and his mother is a health administrator. Together they run the Next Play 360 training facility in Marietta where Scoot did most of his training in his childhood, gaining tremendous athleticism and speed. He is the youngest of seven siblings, of which 3 sisters played NCAA Division I basketball. So it can be safe to say that basketball runs through their family.

Henderson played for Carlton J. Kell High School in Marietta, where he came off the bench and played alongside his C.J., who was a senior at this point. But in his sophomore season in 2020, when Scoot became a regular starter, he made an immediate impact and established himself as one of, if not, the best players on his team. He led J. Kell to the semi-finals averaging 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals while being named class 5A Player of the Year and first-team 5A all-state. In his junior year, Henderson scored 53 points in a game against Osborne High School breaking the program's scoring record. Henderson received class 6A Player of the Year and first-team 6A all-state honors for his performance. Henderson bypassed his senior year to play professionally. Scoot was the most sought-after recruit in his class and received multiple offers from top programs such as Auburn and Georgia
