Jalen Duren is a professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA as of December 2024. He plays at the Center position and is 6 feet and 10 inches tall and weighs 250 lbs. Duren was born in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania and later moved with his family to New Castle, Delaware. Duren was a football and baseball player in his early days and later shifted to playing basketball. He was 6 feet and 5 inches tall as a seventh grader and hence attracted a lot of attention as a potential basketball player. He was invited to the MADE Hoops Middle School academy and CP3 Rising Stars Camp which helped him gain the recognition as one of the best players in his class.

Duren attended and played for the University of Memphis from 2021 to 2022 after which he declared for the NBA Draft. He averaged 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in his lone season at Memphis. He was picked with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets and was subsequently traded to first the New York Knicks and then the Detroit Pistons. He averaged 9.1 points, 1.1 assists, and 8.9 rebounds per game in his rookie season, and made it to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2023.
