Jalen Montez Duren is an American professional basketball player who plays as a center for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Born November 18, 2003, in New Castle, Delaware, U.S., Duren played basketball, football, and baseball in his early years. He attended the Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where a brilliant freshman season saw him earn first-team all-league and second-team all-state honors.
Duren's second season in high school was equally successful, picking up First Team All-League, First Team all-state, and MaxPreps Sophomore All-American honors.
For college, Duren committed to the Memphis Tigers, where he averaged 12.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game as a freshman. His impressive stats saw him earn All-Freshman AAC honors, as well as being named the AAC Freshman of the Year.
A consensus five-star recruit, Duren was poached by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2022 NBA draft with the 13th overall pick. However, he was traded to the New York Knicks, and then the Detroit Pistons on draft day. He made his Pistons debut on October 19, 2022, against the Orlando Magic, putting up 14 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
