Born on September 25, 2001, Cade Parker Cunningham is an American professional basketball player currently signed with the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Cunningham hails from Arlington, Texas, U.S. and is the son of Carrie and Keith Cunningham. He attended Bowie High School in his hometown where he played football as a quarterback. He switched to basketball after watching his brother play in college. Cunningham switched high school from Bowie to Montverde Academy in Florida, where he was named a consensus five-star recruit. He also received the national Player of the Year recognition for leading one of the best high school teams in history.

Cunningham made history in the 2021 NBA draft, getting picked up first overall by the Detroit Pistons. He made his NBA debut on October 30 against the Orlando Magic. He was named in the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2022.

On an international level, Cunningham has represented the United States of America at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup, winning the gold medal.

Cade Cunningham went to Oklahoma State and committed to playing basketball with their college team. He made his debut with them on November 25, 2020, and amassed 21 points and 10 rebounds in that game. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, and saw himself recognized as a consensus first-team All-American post his heroics during the freshman season.

Cunningham also won the Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Freshman of the Year that season, becoming only the fourth player to ever do it in the same season. The others being, Marcus Smart, Kevin Durant, and Michael Beasley.

He also received unanimous votes into the first-team All-Big 12, the All-Freshman Team, and the All-Newcomer Team.

Other accolades Cunningham picked up during his time with Oklahoma State include, the Wayman Tisdale Award, Sporting News Freshman of the Year, and National Association of Basketball Coaches Freshman of the Year.
