Juan Alberto “Juancho” Hernangomez Geuer is a basketball player from Spain. He will now play for Panathinaikos B.C. in the Greek Basket League (GBL) and the EuroLeague as per his latest contract.

Born on September 28, 1995 in Madrid, Spain, Juancho Hernangomez is the younger brother of basketball player Willy Hernangomez. He has played basketball in Spain and the United States (NBA) before returning to play in Europe. In 2016, he was named as the Liga ACB Best Young Player. He is considered to be a talented basketball player and has impressed the crowds no matter whichever team he plays for. Besides playing basketball, he has also acted in the sports drama film Hustle (2022) alongside Adam Sandler for Netflix.

Team Spain has chosen Juancho Hernangomez as one of their players for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Club Baloncesto Estudiantes, S.A.D.

Juancho Hernangomez made his basketball career debut with his club. He played here from 2012-2016. He initially played for the club’s second team until he was added to the main team for his performances. He also received the ACB Best Young Player for his performances with this club.

Denver Nuggets

Juancho Herrnangomez’s NBA career started with the Denver Nuggets where he was a member from 2016-2020. Initially, he developed himself with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA G League, known for its affiliation with Miami Heat. Later, he rejoined the Nuggets.

Juancho Hernangomez is notable for helping the Denver Nuggets defeat the Golden State Warriors with a score of 132-110 by scoring 27 points on February 13, 2017. However, he was unable to contribute much in the next season due to suffering from mononucleosis and appeared in 25 games. He was eventually traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves by the Denver Nuggets on February 5, 2020.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Juancho Hernangomez’s NBA career next took him to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was a member from 2020-2021. However, he did not have a good career with them. He was mostly out of shape for the training camp. Additionally, he was also diagnosed with Covid-19.

To add to this, he also had issues with the Minnesota Timberwolves front office because they prevented him from participating in the 2021 Olympic Games as he had suffered from a shoulder injury in an exhibition game. On August 25, 2021, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Memphis Grizzlies in turn traded him to the Boston Celtics on September 15, 2021.

Boston Celtics

This was Juancho Hernangomez’s third team in his NBA career and he played there from 2021-2022. He was a member of the team for 4 months 4 days before he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio Spurs

Juancho Hernangomez next found himself with the San Antonio Spurs. After spending 21 days with the team, the San Antonio Spurs traded him to the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team deal.

Utah Jazz

Utah Jazz was the fifth team in Juancho Hernangomez’s NBA career. He stayed there for 4 months and 21 days before he was released by the team on June 30, 2022.

Toronto Raptors

Juancho Hernangomez next joined the Toronto Raptors on July 27, 2023. He was a team member for 7 months before he was released from the team on February 28, 2023. This was also the end of his NBA career for now as he decided to return to Europe to play basketball there.

Panathinaikos B.C.

Juancho Hernangomez will now play for Panathinaikos B.C. in the Greek Basket League (GBL) and EuroLeague as per the 2 year contract worth 4.500.000 euros signed by him on July 27, 2023.

Spain National Basketball Team

Juancho Hernangomez plays for team Spain on a national level. As a junior, he participated in the 2013 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship in Latvia, where he won a bronze medal. Then he participated in the 2014 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship in Greece and 2015 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship in Italy and won silver medals in both.

As a senior, he joined team Spain at the 2017 EuroBasket in Turkey and helped them win a bronze medal. He also played in the 2022 EuroBasket in Germany and won a gold medal.

Juancho Hernagomez joined team Spain at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China and helped them to win a gold medal. He will now again be joining team Spain for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
