Keegan Murray’s early life
Born in Cedar Rapids, Keegan Murray played basketball for the nearby Prairie High School. The youngster remained a household name in his senior year, averaging 20.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He was honoured with the Metro Player of the Year for his performances. Murray moved to DME Academy in Florida for more exposure. Developing into a star player, Keegan Murray averaged 22.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the Academy.
Continuing with the IOWA, Murray recorded a freshman season-high 14 points and nine rebounds. Defensively also, he thrived at the defensive end with three steals and three blocks in a 77–75 win over Rutgers. In his freshman season, Murray averaged 7.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. Murray scored 35 points in a 94-75 victory over Utah State and topped with a 37 points game against Nebraska.
Murray decided to play for the bigger league – NBA, forgoing his remaining college eligibility. On March 29, 2022, Murray declared for the 2022 NBA draft.
