Miles Bridges Injury History
Miles Bridges in Boston Celtics v Charlotte Hornets

Miles Emmanuel Bridges Sr. is a professional basketball player who plays for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA as of November 2024. Before reaching the NBA, Bridges developed his skills at Flint Southwestern High School in Michigan, where he initially played as a center. He sought to further enhance his basketball prospects and transferred to Huntington Prep School in West Virginia. His exceptional high school performance earned him selections to both the McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic in 2016.

Bridges then joined Michigan State University, where he played for two seasons (2016-2018) under coach Tom Izzo. His college career was marked by immediate success, as he earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten in 2017. He also secured a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, establishing himself as one of college basketball's rising stars. The 2018 NBA Draft saw Bridges selected as the 12th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers, but he was quickly traded to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Upon joining the Hornets, he signed his first NBA contract worth $16.3 million over four years. In the 2023/24 season, Bridges demonstrated his continued growth as a player, averaging 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. His performance led to a new three-year, $75 million contract with the Hornets in the 2024 off-season.

Major injuries sustained by Miles Bridges

Health Protocols (May 2021)

In May 2021, Bridges faced his first significant absence when he was placed under the NBA's health and safety protocols. This required him to sit out for approximately 14 days, following the league's strict COVID-19 guidelines. According to NBA protocols, players who tested positive needed to remain out for a minimum of 10 days and produce two negative tests at least 24 hours apart before receiving clearance to return to action. As per Basketball Reference, Bridges missed six games during that stretch.

Knee Injury (November 2024)

Bridges encountered another injury setback in November 2024 when he suffered a bone bruise in his right knee. As per reports, the injury occurred during a crucial moment in the Hornets' 108-107 victory over the Detroit Pistons. While attempting to block Jaden Ivey's shot, Bridges hyperextended and awkwardly twisted his right knee upon landing. Despite showing initial discomfort, he had been playing exceptionally well before the injury, posting a season-high 27 points in that game. Subsequent MRI results confirmed the bone bruise, leading to a minimum two-week recovery period as per the Hornets. This injury marked one of the few significant health issues in his otherwise durable NBA career.
